TRIBUNBATAM.id - Honey is a natural ingredient that many people believe is capable of dealing with minor health complaints. Even so, do not give honey to babies less than a year old.

The main reason why honey is dangerous for babies is that there is a large possibility that the bacterium contains clostridium, which is hidden inside.

Clostridium is easy to grow in dust, rivers and soil, it is likely that this bacterium also contaminates honey.

Honey containing these bacteria can harm the baby's digestive system because the intestines are not yet ripe and cannot fight the clostridium bacteria. In contrast to adults whose digestive system is mature and this bacterium does not cause harm.

Clostridium will release toxins in the baby's digestive tract, even if consumed in small amounts. The effect is poisoning (botulism).

Food poisoning will cause symptoms of difficulty swallowing, weak of baby crying, lethargic, unable to defecate, and muscle paralysis.

Take the baby immediately to the doctor if you show any of these symptoms. (*)
