TRIBUNBATAM.id - PT Bank Central Asia Tbk is completing the process of cooperation with digital wallet (e-wallet) service providers from China, WeChat and AliPay.

BCA President Director, Jahja Setiaatmadja said, the cooperation will be realized in the early quarter of 2020.

"I think, we will continue to process the technicality. We expect early next year, hopefully the first quarter of next year can already work together," he said in Jakarta, Monday (10/28/2019).

Jahja explained, one of the goals of the collaboration with the e-wallet from China is that the domestic tourism climate can be maintained.

Because, previously widespread use of foreign e-wallets in tourism locations, especially in the Bali region. If the transaction process is carried out through a foreign e-wallet, then not using the rupiah currency, the potential for foreign exchange that should be obtained by Indonesia will be eroded. 

In this business partnership, BCA as a service provider (aquiring). Jahja said, BCA will provide EDC machines for WeChat and AliPay at tourist sites that are crowded with Chinese tourists. 

"It can be placed in mercantines, especially in tourist areas, where there are many travelers from China," he said.

For information, Alipay and WeChat Pay as foreign payment system service providers (PJSPs) require acquirers or parties who can process electronic money data issued by other parties.
