Minister of Transportation: Garuda Wants to Lower Ticket Prices by 30 Percent on Monday-Thursday
The Minister of Transportation, Budi Karya Sumadi said, the Garuda Indonesia airline would provide a discount of 30 percent for all flights.
According to him, the regulation will be applied in the near future.
"We got confirmation from Garuda, that there are tickets with cheaper prices, 30 percent cheaper for Monday to Thursday," said Budi at the Ministry of Transportation Office, Jakarta, Thursday (12/5/2019).
Budi explained, this policy was taken after he coordinated with the Ministry of ESDM and the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources. This coordination is in the context of rebalancing the price of aviation fuel in Indonesia.
"We coordinated it and Garuda has already done it and Insya Allah Lion Air is following," Budi said.
Based on information from Garuda, Budi continued, the ticket price reduction will be valid until February 2020. However, he hopes this policy can continue to be applied.
The aim is to provide affordable ticket prices for the public.
"According to records from Garuda, this is valid until February. Our commitment starts from Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, in providing the cheap tickets, "he said. (*)
