Saudi Arabia Suspends Umrah Visa, Garuda awaits Government Decisions Regarding Umrah Flights
Garuda is still coordinating further with the Ministry of Religion regarding the status of the flight. Here's the details info.
Because the Saudi Foreign Ministry decided to suspend visa permits for the purpose of Umrah and visit the Prophet's Mosque, starting today, Thursday (02/27/2020).
Vice President Corporate Secretary of Garuda Mitra Piranti said it was still awaiting confirmation of the status of the Umrah flight to Saudi Arabia from the Ministry of Religion.
"Regarding the continuation of Garuda's flight to Saudi Arabia, we are still waiting for a decision from the Ministry of Religion," he told Kompas.com on Thursday.
At present, Mitra added, Garuda is still coordinating further with the Ministry of Religion regarding the status of the flight.
"We will update again if there is information development," he said.
Previously, the Special Staff of the Minister of Religion, Ubaidillah Amin, said that the Ministry of Religion, through the Directorate General of Hajj and Umrah, had conducted a direct visit to the airport serving Umrah flights to Saudi Arabia, as a form of anticipation of the emergence of pilgrims who were detained at the airport.
However, he said, airlines serving Umrah flights to Saudi Arabia are still operating normally until now.
"Based on reports from surveillance at the airport, Garuda, Saudia, Citilink, Lion Air, to this day they are still on schedule," he said. (*)
