Prevent Corona Virus, Here's The Story of Ticket Seller at Sekupang International Port

Working as a ticket seller at international port of Sekupang, Batam, Riau Islands, makes Eka often interact with many people there. Here's his story.

TRIBUNBATAM.id - Working as a ticket seller at international port of Sekupang, Batam, Riau Islands, makes Eka often interact with many people.

No exception to Foreign Citizens from Singapore who come and go through the port.

In the midst of Corona virus outbreak, Eka did not dismiss the fear of contracting covid-19 plague despite occasional fear.

"You can say that you are afraid, sometimes you are afraid. It's often like being prejudiced when you see foreigners," said Eka, ticket sales officer at Sekupang International Port, Monday (2/3/2020).

"Yes .., how not prejudiced, see on television there are many foreigners who have died because Corona virus and I have to contact with them. So if you see a foreigner, it becomes strange," he said.

While serving customer transactions, Eka said he had to fight the fear of Corona virus.

"Yes, it must be like that, the consequences of work every day are direct contact with foreigners who buy ferry tickets. So they must be vigilant between health and work," said Eka.

To protect himself, he and his friends must use personal protective equipment.

"As I wear this, masks and rubber gloves and after every transaction directly use hand sanitizer, certainly for personal protection," he said.

He said, just in case. Because he did not know for sure the foreigners who had just served it from where.
