Nongsa Becomes a New Normal Tourism Pilot, Batam Nongsapura Port Manager Welcomes Positive

The tourism area in the Nongsa region, Batam, Riau Islands, will be a model of tourism in the New Normal tourism program. Here's the detail.

The atmosphere at the Nongsapura Ferry Terminal International Port, Nongsa, Batam City on Thursday (6/2/2020) - The tourism area in the Nongsa region, Batam, Riau Islands, will be a model of tourism in the New Normal tourism program. 

This was welcomed positively by the General Manager of Nongsapura Ferry Terminal, Iwan Surajitno.

"We positively welcome the discourse of the government," he said on Wednesday (6/24/2020).

Iwan said, with the discourse on the implementation of New Normal, his party would make more efforts to improve the Health protocol at the port it manages.

"We will coordinate with tourism actors, such as hotels, places to eat and tourist attractions for convenience information at tourist attractions," he said. 

He said the Covid-19 pandemic was very influential on passenger arrivals and departures at the Nongsapura Ferry Terminal.

"Since Covid-19 hit, the port has become very quiet, although it continues to operate, only one trip per day," he said.

He stated, by making the tourism area in Nongsa as a pilot for the New Normal tourism program, it became a separate hope for tourism actors and their parties.

The Nongsapura Ferry Terminal itself operates every 08:00 AM to 22:00 PM and serves the Batam route to Singapore and vice versa. 

It is proposed to enter the New Normal Tourism Program

The Riau Islands Provincial Government proposed the Lagoi Tourism area in Bintan and Nongsa regencies in Batam City to be included in the New Normal Tourism program planned by the central government.

The election of Lagoi and Nongsa, because both are considered to be able to meet the requirements when the New Normal or the new normal life order in the tourism sector is implemented. 

Indeed, Nongsa and Lagoi, tourism activities can continue to run in accordance with health protocols that are safe for tourists and the ecosystem in them. (*)
