TRIBUNBATAM.id, BATAM - There are currently 100 medical and health workers in Batam City who have been exposed to Covid-19.

Of these, the distribution of health workers confirmed to be positive for Covid-19 came from public hospitals as many as 41 people, health center 43 people, and the rest from private hospitals 16 people.

This figure was conveyed by Head of Batam City Health Office, Didi Kusmarjadi, in TribunBatam News Webilog, on Monday (7/9/2020).

Although this figure is quite high, until now there have been no health workers exposed to Covid-19 who have severe symptoms.

"Almost all of them have mild symptoms, and tend to want independent isolation only. In Batam do not allow independent isolation.

As long as there is still a place we will still be treated at the hospital, "said Didi.

According to him, it is strongly suspected that many Covid-19 patients who work as health workers are exposed to Covid-19 from the social environment outside their workplace.

After further investigation, a number of health workers actually brought Corona virus to their workplaces from outside social activities. It is unlikely that the health worker will be infected from the treated patient.

Because according to Didi, medical and health personnel have strictly followed the standards for using PPE.

"Officers generally have prepared themselves optimally with PPE. So that at the time of service, there is little chance of exposure from patients," added Didi.

He gave an example, one of the health workers was even exposed through his own close family, namely the husband. Therefore, Head of the Batam City Covid-19 Task Force Health Division also always urges medical and health personnel to socialize and implement health protocols in the family circle.

"We urge health workers to participate in educating their families, so as not to be exposed and even spread in the workplace," said Didi.
