TRIBUNBATAM.id, PELEMBANG - The Ampera Bridge in Palembang, South Sumatra, will be closed for two days, from September 27-28, 2021 for dynamic loading tests.
Head of the National Road Implementation Center (BBPJN) V for the South Sumatra Region, Syaiful Anwar said, dynamic tests were carried out to determine the capacity of the bridge structure that had been built since 1965.
Since being used, the connecting bridge between the upstream and downstream areas of Palembang City has never been thoroughly evaluated, including the capacity of the bridge.
"This bridge has been around for 56 years, so it is necessary to evaluate the structure of the bridge by carrying out a load test," Syaiful told reporters, Thursday (9/23/2021).
Judging from its shape, the Ampera Bridge, which is an icon of Palembang City, is estimated to be designed with an endurance capacity of around 75 years.
Each bridge has a different resistance.
From 100 years, 75 years, and 50 years.
"The evaluation results will determine the capacity of this Ampera bridge," he said.
During the load test, the Ampera Bridge will be sterilized from vehicles at 10.30 pm to 3.30 am.
During that time, the bridge may not be crossed by two- and four-wheeled vehicles.
