TRIBUNBATAM.id - The Directorate of Water Police (Ditpolair) of Baharkam Polri has uncovered a lobster seed smuggling syndicate at Muara Baru Port, Penjaringan, North Jakarta. 

In this case, the police arrested four suspects as well as evidence of 144,100 lobster seeds. 

"We've been managed to apprehend the suspected perpetrator (IS) who brought the baby lobster," said the Director of the National Police's Korpolairud, Brigadier General Yassin Kosasih to reporters, Friday (9/24). 

Yassin said his party first arrested IS on Sunday (9/12/2021). A day later, his party arrested three other suspects, namely MH, BPS, and LS.

Yassin explained that this syndicate collects lobster seeds from Sukabumi, West Java. After that, the lobster seeds were brought to Jakarta to Singapore

Furthermore, Yassin said, the price of the lobster seeds could increase many times after arriving in Singapore.

The initial price from collectors is around IDR 10,000 to IDR 20,000, then it becomes IDR 200 thousand when in Singapore

"The price increase is fantastic, there is a potential for losses, the state will be harmed," he said.

Yassin said the state loss in this case was estimated at IDR 33.6 billion.

According to Yassin, the lobster seeds that were secured from the suspect's hands will be released in the waters of Kepulauan Seribu. 

For their actions, the suspects will be charged with Article 92 in conjunction with Article 26 paragraph (1) of Law Number 11 of 2020 concerning Job Creation and or Article 88 of Law Number 45 of 2009 concerning Fisheries in conjunction with Article 55 paragraph (1) of the 1st Criminal Code.
