TRIBUNBATAM.id, MANDALIKA - The Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy/Head of the Tourism and Creative Economy Agency, Sandiaga Salahuddin Uno assessed that Indonesia's success in organizing the 2022 MotoGP event at Pertamina Mandalika International Street Circuit, Lombok, will be the key to promoting Indonesian sport tourism in the international arena.
This was stated by Sandiaga while reviewing the first day of the Pertamina Grand Prix of Indonesia (MotoGP 2022) at the Pertamina Mandalika International Street Circuit, Lombok, West Nusa Tenggara as well as seeing firsthand the action of the racers driving their motorbikes on the Mandalika racing track.
On that occasion, Sandiaga also had the opportunity to see the Gresini Racing team's paddock activity, when two of their racers, Enea Bastianini and Fabio DiGianantonio in action in free practice 2, Friday (3/18).
Gresini Racing is a MotoGP team that collaborates with the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy in promoting Indonesia's tourism and creative economy.
Sandiaga hopes that the success of the Mandalika MotoGP, which is the result of the collaboration of all ministries/agencies and various parties, will raise the name of Indonesia in organizing world-class events, especially sport tourism.
The Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy explained that the Mandalika MotoGP which took place from Saturday (3/19) to Sunday (3/20) was a form of adjustment in the new post-pandemic economic order.
This includes the implementation of racing held with strict and disciplined health protocols as well as maximizing the use of technology.
Menparekraf also ensured that the implementation of MotoGP will have a broad impact on the community, including Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) or called UMKM to be able to take part and benefit from this event.
He said this was also in accordance with the direction of President Joko Widodo, that MotoGP must provide opportunities and space so that MSMEs can develop.
