TRIBUNBATAM.id - The Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) issued an early weather warning for the territory of Indonesia.

BMKG predicts DKI Jakarta to Papua has the potential for heavy rain accompanied by strong winds on Thursday (5/19) to Saturday (5/21).

Through its official social media, the BMKG mentions areas that have the potential for heavy rain and can be accompanied by lightning or thunder and strong winds.

Bengkulu, Jambi, South Sumatra, Bangka Belitung Islands, Lampung, Banten, West Java, Central Java, Yogyakarta, East Java, NTB, West Kalimantan, Central Kalimantan, North Kalimantan, East Kalimantan, South Kalimantan, North Sulawesi, Gorontalo, Central Sulawesi , West Sulawesi, Southeast Sulawesi, North Maluku and Maluku are predicted to have heavy rains accompanied by strong winds/lightning on May 19. 

"Be aware of the potential for rain accompanied by lightning and strong winds of short duration in East and South Jakarta in the afternoon and evening," the BMKG said on its official website.

For Friday (5/20), South Sumatra, Bangka Belitung Islands, Lampung, Banten, West Java, DKI Jakarta, Central Java, Yogyakarta, East Java, NTB, West Kalimantan, Central Kalimantan, North Kalimantan, East Kalimantan, South Kalimantan, North Sulawesi, Gorontalo, Central Sulawesi, West Sulawesi, Southeast Sulawesi, North Maluku, Maluku and Papua also have the potential for heavy rain accompanied by wind and lightning. 

The areas that have the potential for heavy rain on Saturday (5/21) are referred to by the BMKG as Bengkulu, South Sumatra, Lampung, Banten, West Java, DKI Jakarta, Central Java, Yogyakarta, East Java, Central Kalimantan, North Kalimantan, East Kalimantan, South Kalimantan, North Sulawesi, Gorontalo, Central Sulawesi, West Sulawesi, Southeast Sulawesi, North Maluku, Maluku and Papua. 

"Areas with the potential for rain accompanied by lightning and strong winds on May 20; Bali, South Sulawesi and West Papua, Saturday, May 21; Riau and West Papua," said the BMKG.
