The Government Banned Tourists from 4 Countries, The Airline's Revenue will be Disrupted

TRIBUNBATAM.id - The government decided to ban the arrival of tourists both arriving and in transit, from several cities in Iran, Italy and South Korea. This was done following the development of cases of the spread of the Corona virus or Covid-19 in the three countries.

Aviation observer Arista Atmadjati said, this decision was judged to correct the revenue target of airlines that serve these routes.

Because the previous government had closed all flight routes to and from China. 

Arista explained, the number of tourists leaving or coming directly from Iran and Italy was not too significant.

In contrast to south korea, which is listed as one of the main countries of origin for tourist arrivals. 

Citing data from the Central Statistics Department, foreign tourists visits coming from South Korea in January 2020 reached 33,600 people. Of that number, 27,300 of them came by plane. 

Furthermore, Arista rate, Garuda Indonesia will be one of the airlines that will experience significant losses. 

Because the red plate airline serves 14 flight routes to South Korea every week.

"Garuda flies to South Korea 14 times per week, from Jakarta and Bali," he said. 

Previously, the Ministry of Transportation ensured that flights with routes to and from South Korea were still operating.

Director General of Civil Aviation of the Ministry of Transportation, Novie Riyanto, said that the ban imposed by the government only applies to tourists from the three countries.

However, it is certain that aircraft flights are still operating normally. 

"The only ones prohibited are tourists. There are no restrictions on flights," he said. 

Furthermore, the Former Managing Director of PT Airnav Indonesia explained that aircraft flights from these countries not only serve passengers, but also cargo services. (*)
