Mayor of Batam, Muhammad Rudi, gave a speech at KBMB talk show at Mega Mall Batam Center, Saturday (7/18). He asked the public to continue implementing health protocols, although a number of crowd activities began to be allowed to operate.

TRIBUNBATAM.id, BATAM - The application of health protocols was something that was reminded by Mayor of Batam, Muhammad Rudi during New Normal.

According to him, some people have not complied with implementing health protocols due Covid-19 pandemic.

Masks that are supposed to be a minimum personal protective device for the community, now many are reluctant to wear them.

Not only limited to wearing a mask. While attending Batam Musicians' Large Family (KBMB) event at Mega Mall on Saturday (7/18) yesterday, Rudi also appealed to the community to keep their distance, avoid gathering activities, and diligently wash their hands with soap and running water.

According to him, the New Normal situation does not necessarily make the implementation of the health protocol loosened.

The community is still obliged to wear masks when doing activities outside the home, especially in a crowd.

"New Normal does not mean taking off the mask. But all our activities and activities are open with a note that they still comply with health protocols," he said.

Rudi said that the New Normal policy that he applied in the middle of the pandemic was not an easy decision.

He must always consider two things, namely efforts to eradicate the Corona virus outbreak, and efforts to re-mobilize the economic activities of the community.

That is why, malls and other public facilities are gradually allowed to operate again.

This is done so that the wheels of the community's economy continue to spin. With this, it is always emphasized that the community also supports New Normal by always abiding by the health protocol.

Discipline of community will be the key to suppress the spread of Corona virus in Batam City.

If this protocol is not followed with discipline, new problems will arise in the future.

"Thank God, the mall is open today. But I continue to adhere to t health protocol. Because we do not know how long the virus will disappear.

If there are still people who don't want to wear masks, please remind them. The government is limited to issuing policies. If you want this Corona virus to finish quickly, then let's continue to obey the health protocol, "said Rudi. (TribunBatam.id/Hening Sekar Utami)
