Why Hundreds of Climbers Killed in the 'Death Zone' to the Top of Everest?

TRIBUNBATAM.id - Mount Everest in the Himalayas, Nepal, was claimed to be the highest mountain in the world. To reach its top, you must climb to an altitude of 8,848 meters above sea level (masl).
Although was covered in snow and so cold, not a few people who dreamin to reach the summit of the Everest.
But before reaching the highest top of the world, the climbers must climb till the last climb at an altitude of more than 8,000 meters above sea level. This last area is known as the Death Zone.
"Death zone" is not just any name. Because, at that altitude, oxygen levels are very thin. People at high risk run out of breath and die if they stay there too long.
The enthusiasm of climbers during May 2019 made the risk worse. The queue of climbers snakes in the dead zone. Noted, as many as 11 Everest climbers died out of breath in there.
BBC report in October 2015 said, at least more than 200 human remains have been found near the summit of Everest.

However, why is being stuck in line on Everest can cause the death?
Reported by Science Alert (05/29/2019), the human body cannot "function" properly when it is at a certain height. The most ideal place for humans is above sea level because our brains and lungs will get enough oxygen.
Conversely, when climbers are trapped in the path of the death zone that thousands of meters above sea level, the brain and lungs do not get enough oxygen.
Situations like this can result in the risk of heart attack and stroke, and reduce the concentration.
A climber named David Breashers confirmed this. According to him, Everest climbers will have difficulty breathing once they reach the death zone.

Just imagine if you are at the top of a mountain with an altitude above 3,000 meters, it would also be difficult to breathe because of the thin air.
A research says, when at an altitude of about 3,657 masl, oxygen levels are reduced by 40 percent. Try to imagine how the air conditions at an altitude of 8,000 meters above sea level like the top of Everest.
During the Caudweel Xtreme expedition on Everest in 2007, doctor Jeremy Windsor took the blood samples from four climbers who were queuing in the death zone. He found, that they were breathing in the same way as the people who are dying. (*)
