265,718 Foreign Tourists Visit Riau Islands on August 2019, Mostly Singaporean

TRIBUNBATAM.id - The Central Statistics Agency called Badan Pusat Statistik (BPS) of Riau Islands Province (Kepri) noted that foreign tourist visits increased on August 2019 by 265,718 people.

This increase was also seen when compared to the previous month of only 217,957 people.

"When compared to August 2018, it also experienced an increase of 12.55 percent," said Head of BPS Kepri Zulkifli, Sunday (10/06/2019).

If counted from January to August 2019 the number of foreign tourist arrivals reached 1,888,958 people.

He conveyed, most foreign tourists visit was dominated by Singapore nationality.

With a total number of visits of 881,716 people.

"For the second place are Tiongkok, Malaysia, India, Philippines, South Korea, Japan, England, Australia, and the last position is America," he said.

Number of foreign tourists visiting Riau Islands by region is still the largest through Batam City as many as 1,270,873 people.

"The second place is 425,250 people in Bintan, 116,600 people in Tanjungpinang and 76,235 people in Karimun," he said.

He stated, Room Occupancy Rate (TPK) of starred hotels in Riau Islands itself in August 2019 reached an average of 47.82 percent, or decreased by 1.85 points compared to TPK on July 2019 of 49.67 percent.

"Judging by the average length of foreign guests stay , and Indonesian guests at star-rated hotels in Riau Islands on August 2019 was 2.23 days, up 0.24 points compared to the average length of guests stay on July 2019," he concluded. (Tribunbatam.id/endrakaputra)
