Extreme Weather, BMKG Batam Warn Residents of Natuna & Anambas About Lightning and Strong Winds

TRIBUNBATAM.id - In general, weather conditions, today, Thursday (10/24/2019) almost all regions in Riau Islands are predicted to be cloudy and there is potential for local rain.

Rain is predicted will have mild to moderate intensity which can be accompanied by lightning and strong winds.

This was conveyed by Forecaster on duty of Meteorology Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) at Meteorology Station Class I Hang Nadim Batam, Addini Siti N.

"The existence of closed cycloneic circulation area near Riau Islands region has resulted in a convergence region increasing the growth of convective clouds," he said, Thursday (10/24/2019).

BMKG also gave a warning to Natuna and Anambas areas, be alert to the potential for moderate to heavy rainfall that could be accompanied by lightning and strong winds.

In general, temperatures in Riau Islands start at 23 to 32 degrees Celsius with average wind speeds of 5 to 30 kilometers per hour, and humidity of 65 to 98 percent.

Meanwhile, potential for high waves in the waters of Riau Islands itself is not so dangerous.

Because BMKG does not issue a wave hazard warning.

Monitored in the waters of Anambas, and Natuna. High waves only reach 1.1 meters.

Furthermore, the waters of Lingga, Tanjungpinang, and Bintan only reach 1 meter.
