BMKG Affirms, Indonesia Will Not Experience a Heat Wave
Public was shocked about the news and tweet on social media that Indonesia will experience a heat wave. The news was denied by the BMKG.
"At the moment what is happening in Indonesia is the phenomenon of heat and not heat waves, it is clearly different," Miming said at the Indonesian Ministry of Health Building, Friday (10/25/2019).
Miming explained that heat waves that have the potential to cause extreme temperatures will not occur in the tropics, but will occur in subtropical or latitudes.
That is why, the phenomenon that we have recently felt is called a heat phenomenon.
Hot temperatures occur very conditionally, that is, depending on the conditions of various other factors, such as culmination of the sun, weather without clouds and the influence of the direction of wind patterns.
Conversely, heat waves globally occur due to the influence of atmospheric conditions polar regions that move towards latitude.
"So it needs to be distinguished between heat temperatures and heat waves that occur in the upper latitudes, in Indonesia what happens is heat conditions, meteorologically," he said.
Miming then said, that so far, the hottest temperature recorded was in Semarang and that was not up to 40 degrees Celsius, which is 39 degrees Celsius.
This is in accordance with BMKG predictions, although the phenomenon of hot temperatures in Indonesia will still occur until the end of October, but the highest heat temperatures will only reach 38-39 degrees Celsius.
Meanwhile, in November and December the highest heat temperature will reach 36 degrees Celsius. (*)
