Mastercard: Indonesia Has A Great Potential for Digital Economy
"First of all, Indonesia has fantastic economic growth. Indonesia's digital potential is huge," said Rama.
TRIBUNBATAM.id - Mastercard assessed that Indonesia is a promising market for the digital economy.
This was revealed by Executive Vice President of Digital & Emerging Partnerships and New Payment Flows Mastercard for Asia Pacific, Rama Sridhar, in a special interview to Kompas.com in his office, at DUO Tower, Singapore, Tuesday (12/11/2019).
"First of all, Indonesia has fantastic economic growth. Indonesia's digital potential is huge," said Rama.
"I reckon, for the Asean region, I did a study last week, we see profits from the digital sector in Asean almost one trillion dollars, no doubt Indonesia has a big role in that," he continued.
According to him, there are several reasons for the digital economy in Indonesia to have great potential.

First, Rama said that Indonesia has a demographic bonus with a large population.
Then, the number of smartphones as well as underbanked consumers.

"Therefore, I believe that Indonesia has many opportunities, after all aspects of digitalization are available," he said.
Even so, Rama considered that Indonesia had just begun its journey to become a non-cash or cashless society. (*)
