Sail To Bintan Event, Dozens of Luxury Yachts Fail to Sail Due to Weather

TRIBUNBATAM.id - Dozens of luxury yachts failed to sail to the waters of Bintan, Riau Islands Province.

That is due to weather and technical constraints, making dozens of yachts sailing from various countries fail to reach the waters of the Riau Islands.

Head of Bintan Culture and Tourism Office, Wan Rudy Iskandar said, originally dozens of yachts would sail to Bintan waters in a series of Sail to Bintan tourism events.

But only a few stopped in the waters of Bintan.

There are dozens of yachts. 

This event itself includes a series of Sail to Indonesia events that were held recently.

Wan Rudy said, at the end of the year, tens or even hundreds of luxury yachts from various countries often sail to the waters of the Riau Islands and stop in the waters of Bintan

"Bintan as a yacht exit point in the Sail to Indonesia event," he said, Tuesday (11/11/2019).

Wan Rudy said, at the same tourism event this year, the number of Sail to Indonesia participants who stopped in Bintan waters declined.

The initial assumption, the number of Sail to Indonesia participants who stopped in Bintan waters reached 100 yachts. 

However, due to various things, including weather conditions and technical constraints, the number of yacht participants in the Sail to Indonesia event was only 19 yachts.

"Only 19 yachts can complete the final stages. The participants come from Australia, UK, Sweden, Norway, US, and Canada," he explained. 

Wan Rudy said that Sail to Indonesia participants who stopped in Bintan waters had completed their immigration documents to return to their home countries.

Sail to Bintan is a series of the series "Sail to Indonesia 2019" which starts from Papua until the last port in Bintan.

In this activity, the participants' journey to their hometown varied, from 2 to 4 months by sea.
