When the Boss of Inalum Analogize the Freeport Management with Mohamed Salah
Government and PT Indonesia Asahan Alumunium alias Inalum were asked to increase the portion of the local workforce at Freeport. Here's the details.
TRIBUNBATAM.id - After the acquisition of PT Freeport Indonesia last year, the government and PT Indonesia Asahan Alumunium alias Inalum were asked to increase the portion of the local workforce at Freeport.
In fact, the government and Inalum as majority shareholders are asked to give all positions of directors and commissioners to Indonesian citizens.
Launch from Kompas.com, responding to this, Inalum's President Director, Orias Petrus Moeldak said, currently both the composition of Indonesian citizens at the management and operational levels were more dominant than foreign citizens (foreigners).
In fact, in terms previously agreed upon by Freeport and the government, the composition of Indonesian citizens and foreigners in the board of directors and commissioners is 50:50.
"But at this time what is happening is 4 Indonesians and 2 foreigners," he said at the Indonesian Parliament Building, Jakarta, Wednesday (1/22/2012).
The man, who also served as Freeport's Vice President Director, said that the company's performance under the board of directors and commissioners is currently going well. Therefore, it has not considered adding the portion of Indonesian citizens to the board of directors and commissioners.
Orias even analogues the performance of Freeport's directors with the English League football club, Liverpool, which is leading the league standings.
According to him, currently the directors' performance is good, so if there is a change it is feared to have an impact on company performance. This is the same if Liverpool replace their star player, Mohamed Salah.
"I give a comparison with examples like that. If I was at the Liverpool club then Mohamed Salah was replaced with Orias (me), of course not suitable. Its achievements would be different from us if Mohamed Salah kept playing," he said.
Therefore, the man who currently also serves as Managing Director of MIND ID wants to prioritize performance over the composition of citizens in Freeport's management and operations.
"This is so as not to interfere with operational and financial targets that we will achieve, that is the overall representation," he said. (*)
