Cargo Business at Batam's Hang Nadim Airport Declines During Covid-19 Pandemic

TRIBUNBATAM.id, BATAM - Director of Hang Nadim Airport and BP Batam Information Technology Business Agency, Suwarso, said that shipments of goods or cargo from Batam's Hang Nadim Airport declined due to Covid-19 pandemic.
For comparison, from January to December 2019 for the arrival of goods via airport cargo there were 18,297,920 kg.
As for departures there are about 25,481,806 kg of goods.
Of that amount, for the period January to June 2019, recorded arrivals of goods via airport cargo were 9,861,422 kg.
While for departure there are 10,065,855 kg.
"In the same period in 2020, there were 5,967,508 kg of goods entering Batam while there were 7,598,855 kg coming out," he said, Monday (7/20/2020).

The decline continued, due to various factors, including Covid-19 pandemic.
"There is a change in the provisions and rules of the Customs and Excise as well as reduced air transportation due to Covid-19," he explained.
He continued, the intensity of the flight also declined at this time.
Usually on normal days there are around 50 flights and currently only around 20 flights per day.
