34 New Cases in Batam, Now There are 8 Districts that became Covid-19 Red Zone

The number of Covid-19 cases in Batam, Riau Islands (Kepri), continues to increase and the cluster is no longer traceable.

Editor: Lia Sisvita Dinatri, BATAM -  The number of Covid-19 cases in Batam, Riau Islands (Kepri), continues to increase and the cluster is no longer traceable.

In fact, today, Friday (4/9/2020), there were an additional 34 new cases in Batam. 

Thus, the number of Covid-19 cases in Batam has reached 749 cases. 

The Head of the Batam Covid-19 Handling Task Force who is also the Head of the Batam Health Service, Didi Kusmajadi said, it is possible that the number will increase again if Batam people lack discipline during the current new normal period. 

"Today is worrying again because the addition of new cases in Batam has increased again to 34 cases and has reached 749 cases. It is possible that it will continue to rise, ”said Didi through a written statement, Friday (4/9/2020).

For the 34 new cases today, Didi said, there were 6 honorary staff in the Batam City Government and 6 private employees in a number of companies.

Then, there are 4 entrepreneurs and 3 health workers. There are also police and sailors who have tested positive for the coronavirus.

Meanwhile, the red zone in Batam has increased, from 6 sub-districts to 8 sub-districts.

Namely, Sekupang district with 83 patients; Batu Aji sub-district 38 people; Sagulung sub-district 30 people; and Sei Beduk sub-district as many as 29 people.

Furthermore, Batam City sub-district 60 people; Nongsa District 29 people; Lubuk Baja sub-district 26 people; and last Bengkong sub-district which is still undergoing treatment as many as 26 people. 

Meanwhile, there are still 4 sub-districts that are in the safe zone, namely Batu Ampar District, Belakang Padang District, Bulang District, and Galang District.

Didi hopes that the Batam people will not ignore the implementation of health protocols.

Didi also appealed to the public to keep their distance, wash their hands with soap and running water, and stay at home. (*)
