TRIBUNBATAM.id - Since the Covid-19 outbreak, many unwanted things have happened. Starting from a slumping business, there were cuts in wages, and even employee dismissals.
Almost all countries are experiencing very worrying economic turmoil.
In these conditions, finding a job is also very difficult. Moreover, many companies experience shocks on their cash flow.
One radio broadcaster who is now working in a technology marketing, JayDee Lok, said he was also one of the workers laid off because of the pandemic.
Fortunately, within 2 weeks he got a job offer from a major tech.
He also shared 4 tips on how to find job during the pandemic.
1. Throw a wide net
JayDee shared that he applied for 97 jobs after being fired. In fact, this number does not even include applications that he sent by email.
According to him, it would be helpful to think about all the skills you have even though you have not used them at all in the past few weeks.
Once you have finished plugging in all your skills you just need to click on the 'Apply Now' button.
2. Do your homework
He said that a lot of people, when asking for work from other people who are already working in a company, are too arrogant and too open.
This can also prevent people from providing assistance or responses because it is not their priority.
Therefore, he advises you before approaching someone, go to their company website and find out what roles or positions are available for which you already have the requirements, then, ask specific questions when contacting that person.
3. Move quickly and honestly
JayDee advises you to move quickly and honestly when there are 1 openings. You have to act faster because your rivals are very much.
For that, you need to have an updated CV and sample portfolio, so that, when there are vacancies, you can apply as quickly as possible. If you delay, then you will lose.
4. Show them who you are
When you have entered the interview stage, it means that your steps will be a little more complete. You only need a few more attempts to reach the finish line and join the company.
You have to show your manager that you are someone they like. "Indeed, being a professional is not wrong, but it is also not wrong if you tell what games you like and what songs you often sing," he said.
JayDee thinks that sometimes all it takes is a warm smile or a small commentary on a hobby you really love. (*)
