BMKG Asks Residents of 2 Districts to Be Alert, Potential Sea Wave Height of 2.5 Meters

TRIBUNBATAM.id - The Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Department (BMKG) issued a high wave alert warning in the waters of Riau Islands. 

The sea wave height at Anambas and Natuna is predicted to reach 2 to 2.5 meters. 

They asked sea transportation, especially in the two districts in the Riau Islands Province to be vigilant. 

"Also be aware of moderate to heavy rain which can be accompanied by lightning and strong winds in the Riau Islands region," said the Head of BMKG through the Hang Nadim Batam forecaster, Ibnu Susilo, in a statement received by Tribunbatam.id, Friday (27/11/2020). 

In general, the weather conditions on Saturday (28/11) are forecasted to be cloudy and there is a chance of light rain in the morning, afternoon, evening and early morning.

This occurs due to the slowdown and buildup of air masses caused by wind bends (shearlines) in the Riau Islands region which is quite supportive of rain clouds.

Meanwhile, the Head of BMKG Information Data Section, Sutarman said, entering December, is the peak of rain for the Riau Islands region, so the potential for rain and wind increases.

"The waves are also high, especially in the Anambas and Natuna regions which have entered the north wind.
