Its Citizens Start Entering Batam, Singapore Only Acknowledge Swab Test Results from 2 Laboratories

TRIBUNBATAM.id, BATAM - So far, 4 Indonesian citizens have entered Singapore and 7 Singaporean citizens have entered Batam for business affairs through the Travel Corridor Arrangement (TCA) or Reciprocal Green Lane (RGL). 

"Their arrivals and departures are in accordance with health protocols," said interim Mayor of Batam, Syamsul Bahrum, Friday (4/12/2020). 

A total of 11 TCA users undergo the process in accordance with the health protocol agreed by the two countries. 

First, in the arrival hall, they underwent a swab test which was immediately tested in a laboratory at the port.

"The swab test must be carried out correctly. And what Singapore currently recognizes is Awal Bros Hospital and Batam Center Port," said Syamsul. 

Second, they waited until the results of the swab test came out. 

So far, the results of the swab have shown nothing positive, so they can continue their plans and activities while in Batam.

The strength of Batam itself, according to Syamsul, is that Singaporean citizens who arrive in Batam can carry out self-quarantine. Unlike in Singapore, the quarantine is structured.

According to him, if Batam's condition gets better, there will be many TCA users visiting Batam.

For that, all parties must prepare themselves to welcome foreign tourists like last year.

He hopes that, in big moments, in the future, the number of foreign tourists visiting can return to normal. 

Syamsul added, some time ago, those who proposed to come to Batam were those who would build a factory in Batam City.

So, their job is only for work.

"They cannot travel or go outside of that destination," said Syamsul.
