The latest Task Force data per January 24 showed a 1.8 percent increase in cases, from 79,903 to 81,333. However, the increase was lower than the previous week, which rose to 27.05 percent, from 62,677 to 79,903 cases.
"It has been 12 consecutive weeks that the development of positive weekly Covid-19 cases has increased. It is time for this figure to decrease immediately," said Wiku Adisasmito, spokesman for the Covid-19 Task Force in a press conference broadcast via the Presidential Secretariat YouTube channel, Thursday (28/1).
The five provinces that contributed to the increase in the number of cases in a week were DKI Jakarta, which rose 1,207 cases.
Followed by Central Java, up 920 cases, DI Yogyakarta 482 cases, East Nusa Tenggara 446 cases, and Banten up by 440 cases in a week.
Seeing this condition, Wiku also asked the five provinces that contributed to the top cases to give special attention, especially to strengthen surveillance strategies to reduce the transmission of the coronavirus.
Not only that, Wiku also asked the role of the community to be cooperative in complying with 3M's health protocol.
Of that number, 842,122 people were declared to have recovered, while 29,331 others died.
As for today, the distribution of provinces that contributed to the highest increase in cases in the country was West Java with 4,532 cases, followed by DKI Jakarta with 2,889 cases, and Central Java with 1,347 cases. (*)
