TRIBUNBATAM.id - A young woman with the initials MS (15) from Kualin District, South Central Timor Regency (TTS), East Nusa Tenggara, became a suspect after killing a man with the initials NB (48)
In his confession MS killed NB because she was forced to have sex while she was looking for firewood.
Responding to the case, the Commissioner for the National Commission on Women, Tiasri Wiandani asked the police to be fair by prioritizing child protection and women's protection perspectives in the investigation process.
Tia explained that the police must adhere to the provisions of Article 49 Paragraph (1) and (2) of the Criminal Code.
"The police, in the legal process, must also look at this case from the perspective of protecting women because there is a threat of rape," said Tia, Friday (19/2/2021).
Tia revealed that women are very vulnerable to criminal cases when doing self-defense because the perspective on protecting women in the legal process is still very weak.
According to her, currently law enforcement officers must provide justice to legal processes that involve female victims.
For information, currently MS is entrusted to the Directorate of Social Rehabilitation in Kupang, East Nusa Tenggara.
The Head of TTS Police, AKBP Andre Librian said, MS was subject to Article 340 sub 338 sub 35 (3) of the Criminal Code. (*)
