TRIBUNBATAM.id - Positive cases of Covid-19 increased by 5.712 people today Tuesday (2/3/2021).

Thus, the total positive cases in Indonesia reached 1.347.026 people since the first case was announced on March 2, 2020.

Meanwhile, there were 149,645 patients still being treated and in independent isolation. Meanwhile, the number of suspected Covid-19 cases reached 73,977 and the specimens examined today were 33,174 samples. 

Yesterday, Monday (1/3/2021), positive cases of Covid-19 amounted to 1,341,314 people. Of that number, 1,151,915 people have been declared recovered and 36,325 people. 

Until yesterday, East Java was in the top position with the highest number of deaths with 9,147 cases. Followed by Central Java 6,689 cases, DKI Jakarta 5,540 cases, and West Java 2,364 cases. 

On the other hand, the Covid-19 tests carried out in Indonesia are far from the standards set by the World Health Organization (WHO) during the year the pandemic has passed.

WHO has set a standard of screening 1: 1,000 population per week. With data on Indonesia's population reaching 270.2 million people, naturally around 270 thousand people are examined per week. 

The government continues to try to suppress the spread of the coronavirus. A number of policies were taken by President Joko Widodo since the beginning of the pandemic, ranging from Large-Scale Social Restrictions (PSBB), new normal, to micro PPKM in Java-Bali. 

Jokowi has just extended the micro PPKM in a number of Java-Bali areas until March 8, 2021. 

The government claims that the implementation of micro-PPKM is effective in reducing the rate of transmission of the corona virus in the seven provinces of Java-Bali Island. (*)
