Friday Afternoon, Mount Merapi Emits 2 Hot Clouds

TRIBUNBATAM.id, YOGYAKARTA - Mount Merapi emitted hot clouds of avalanches on Friday, (9/4/2021) at 17.07 WIB and 17.26 WIB. 

This hot cloud of avalanche leads to the southwest. 

"There was a hot cloud of avalanches on Mount Merapi on April 9, 2021 at 17.07 WIB," said Head of the Center for Geological Disaster Research and Technology Development (BPPTKG) Hanik Humaida in a written report on Friday. 

Based on the BPPTKG data, hot clouds of avalanche were recorded on a seismogram with an amplitude of 16 millimeters. The duration of the hot clouds avalanche was recorded at 107 seconds.  

"The sliding distance is 1,800 meters to the southwest," she said. 

Not long after, at 17.26 WIB, hot clouds of avalanches were observed again on Mount Merapi. 

This hot clouds avalanche was recorded on a seismogram with an amplitude of 20 millimeters for 111 seconds.

"Distance of 1,300 meters to the southwest," she said. (*)
