TRIBUNBATAM.id - It's been more than 1,5 years since the Covid-19 pandemic has hit Indonesia, but the number of infected patients is still growing.
Based on government data, as of Friday (7/9/2021) at 12.00 WIB, there have been an addition of 38,124 people who have contracted Covid-19 in the last 24 hours.
Thus, the number of patients infected with Covid-19 now stands at 2,455,912 as of March 2020.
The number of new cases this period is not the highest on record during the pandemic, but the number is still worrying because it almost touched 40,000 patients in a day.
This information was conveyed by the Covid-19 Handling Task Force to reporters Friday afternoon.
This data can also be accessed through the covid19.go.id which is updated every afternoon.
In addition, the same data also shows that there are additional recovered patients as many as 28,975 people.
Thus, the number of patients who have recovered from Covid-19 now stands at 2,023,548 people.
However, during the same period, there were still additional patients who died.
In a day, the number of patients who died from Covid-19 was recorded at 871 people.
Thus, the number of patients who died due to Covid-19 in Indonesia now reached 64,631 people.
Although this isn't the highest number, the addition of the death toll of more than 800 makes Indonesia need to act swiftly to deal with Covid-19.
With this data update, there are now 367,733 active Covid-19 cases in Indonesia.
Active cases are the number of positive Covid-19 patients who are still undergoing treatment in hospital or in self-isolation.
Covid-19 cases have been recorded in 510 districts/cities from all provinces in the country.
This means that the transmission of the coronavirus has affected more than 99 percent of Indonesia's territory. (*)
