President Joko Widodo: The Key to Economic Growth is Reducing Covid-19 Cases

TRIBUNBATAM.id - President Joko Widodo said that the key to economic growth at this time was to reduce Covid-19 cases. 

Economic growth, according to Jokowi, will occur in the second quarter of 2021, because at that time Covid-19 cases decreased. 

"The key to economic growth is to reduce Covid-19 cases," said Jokowi in a briefing to Forkopimda throughout East Java, broadcast on YouTube by the Presidential Secretariat, Friday (8/20/2021).  

Jokowi said that Covid-19 cases in Indonesia had reached a high increase in early February 2021. Then the condition gradually declined until May 2021. 

However, positive cases of Covid-19 in Kudus and Bangkalan jumped dramatically because of the Delta variant. In fact, said Jokowi, daily cases had reached 56,000 cases. 

Jokowi admitted that this condition was beyond the government's expectation. Because previously, the potential for an increase in cases was seen in Jakarta, Indramayu and Medan. 

At that time, Jokowi told the TNI Commander and the National Police Chief, there was no other job but to stop the transmission rate. 

On the same occasion, Jokowi reminded, the development of the corona virus is difficult to predict. 

Therefore, Jokowi asked all regional heads and related parties to remain vigilant over the increase and decrease in positive cases of Covid-19. (*Lsd)
