AstraZeneca's 968,360 doses of the finished vaccine are a form of support from the French government through the COVAX facility.
Foreign Minister Retno Marsudi said the arrival of the AstraZeneca vaccine was the second shipment of a total of 3 million vaccine support commitments from the French Government.
With the arrival of the vaccine, today, Indonesia has received 1,327,060 doses of vaccine from France.
"Indonesia expresses its appreciation to France for its solidarity and support for Indonesia during this pandemic," Retno said based on a written statement received.
Meanwhile, the French Ambassador for Indonesia Olivier Chambard confirmed that the delivery of AstraZeneca vaccine of 968 thousand doses through the COVAX mechanism was a continuation of the first shipment of 358,000 doses, which arrived in Jakarta on Friday, September 10.
Chambard ensured that his party supports the COVAX facility to provide vaccine access to countries in need.
The delivery of this vaccine is a sign of France's solidarity and friendship with Indonesia.
"Together, we are hand in hand, we can fight and win the struggle against the global Covid-19 pandemic," said Chambard. (lsd)
