TRIBUNBATAM.id - Indonesia will build two frigates using Rosyth Royal Dockyard Ltd (Babcock), the ship's design provider.
The work on the ship was carried out after PT PAL Indonesia signed a license agreement with Babcock as the ship design provider.
"For the procurement of 2 units of the Indonesian Ministry of Defense Frigate Ships," said the Head of the Public Relations Department of PT PAL Indonesia, Utario Esna Putra in his statement, Thursday, (9/16/2021).
The signing of the agreement was carried out by the CEO of PT PAL Indonesia, Kaharuddin Djenod and the CEO of Rosyth Royal Dockyard Ltd, David Lockwood in the presence of the Indonesian Minister of Defense, Prabowo Subianto in London, England on September 16, 2021.
Later, PT PAL will work on the Frigate ship. The ship will be built within 69 months.
"The plan is that the construction of the Frigate Ship will be carried out within 69 months," he said.
Previously, PT PAL and Babcock had signed a confidentiality agreement on January 30, 2021.
This ship will carry the main engine with specifications 4 x 9100 Kw. The power supply is capable of driving the ship with a maximum speed of up to 28 knots with MCR conditions and endurance at 18 knots of 9,000 Nm.
The frigate will be equipped with a Diesel Generator 4x1360 lw and emergency D/G 1X180 Kw.
Meanwhile, for ease of maneuvering, this ship is equipped with a bow thruster of 925 Kw.
Frigate ships will also be equipped with missiles as a form of air defense system with specifications, namely medium-range vertical missile launchers, long-range vertical-to-air missile launchers.
Then, a long-range vertical-to-surface missile launcher, which will be installed with a fit for but not with (FFBNW) system.
