TRIBUNBATAM.id - The government is considering extending the centralized quarantine period from 10 days to 14 days for travelers from abroad.

This consideration was taken as an effort to anticipate the spread of Omicron which had entered Indonesia and was discussed in a Limited Meeting with President Joko Widodo.

Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy (Menparekraf) Sandiaga Uno in Weekly Press Briefing, Monday (12/20/) said that Omicron's anticipation measures will continue to be evaluated every week.

He explained that the option to increase the quarantine period to 14 days for travelers from abroad was considered because all Omicron cases that entered Indonesia were mostly from abroad.

Sandiaga also appealed to the public not to travel abroad unless there was an urgent need.

Considering that the cases of Omicron in several countries are currently increasing.

"Those who will be traveling abroad should be cancelled, because Omicron has already reached 37,000 cases in the UK."

"If there is no urgent need, then it's better not to travel abroad," he said.
