TRIBUNBATAM.ID,YOGYAKARTA - Mount Merapi, which is located on the border of the Special Region of Yogyakarta (DIY) and Central Java, released hot clouds of avalanches as far as 2.5 kilometers at around 13:35 WIB, Sunday (1/9).
Based on data from the Center for Research and Development of Geological Disaster Technology (BPPTKG), hot clouds of avalanches were recorded on a seismogram with an amplitude of 31 mm and a duration of 204 seconds.
"The glide distance is 2,500 meters to the southwest. The wind is heading east," said Head of BPPTKG, Hanik Humaida in her statement, Sunday (1/9).
Based on BPPTKG's monitoring, it rained at the peak of Mount Merapi with a total rainfall of 18 mm at 13.17 WIB.
Meanwhile, BPPTKG's observations on Saturday (1/8) yesterday, observed 11 times incandescent lava with a maximum sliding distance of 1,500 meters to the southwest.
Until now, Mount Merapi is still at Level III (Alert) since November 5, 2020. (*)
