North Sulawesi's Likupang been Chosen for the Location of the W20 Indonesia Side Event

TRIBUNBATAM.id, NORTH SULAWESI - Likupang in North Minahasa Regency, North Sulawesi, was chosen as the location for the W20 side event on February 14-16, 2022. 

To note, W20 or Women20 is part of the G20 event that focuses on gender equality. 

The G20 is the main forum for international economic cooperation, consisting of 19 countries and 1 European Union institution. 

Indonesia will be the G20 Presidency, or host of the G20 Summit, on December 1, 2021-November 30, 2022. 

Chair of W20 Indonesia 2022, Hardiani Uli Silalahi, said that W20 will hold a number of side events in several tourist destinations. 

"In accordance with the government's recommendation, that we must create tourist destinations other than Bali. In Indonesia, there are many tourist destinations, not only Bali. So, of course we will choose two priority destinations, the first is in Likupang and will be closed later also with priority destinations, namely Lake Toba," said Hardiani.

Likupang offers marine tourism with underwater panoramas and beautiful beaches.

This place is one of the Special Economic Zones that has been designated as a super priority destination (DSP).

Apart from Likupang, the W20 Presidency of Indonesia side events were also held in several places.

Here's the list:

- Batu, East Java, and Banjarmasin, South Kalimantan, in March 2022. 

- Manokwari, West Papua, in May 2022. 

- Lake Toba, North Sumatra, in July 2022. 

- Denpasar, Bali, in September - October 2022.
