This statement was conveyed by the chairman of the West Manggu Democratic Party Faction, NTT, Rikardus Jani to Kompas.com, Monday (4/11).

According to him, local farmers in the area shouldn't continue to be a spectators for Labuan Bajo's Super Premium tourism.

West Manggarai agricultural products must also become the main supplier for the needs of vegetables, fruit and fish for hotels in Labuan Bajo

He said that his party had educated farmers and ranchers so that they could become the main suppliers of fruit, vegetables and meat in all hotels in Labuan Bajo.

This education is a starting point to encourage farmers to not only promote premium tourism in West Manggarai, but also premium agriculture, premium fisheries, and premium livestock.

His side saw that, so far, the West Manggarai agricultural system still applies the traditional system. Farmers work for consumptive.

His party is now continuing to fight for how to change the mindset of the farmers.

"So that there is modern work, namely business activities. Business activities are concrete. So they can sell vegetables to hotels according to hotel standards. Likewise with fruit and fish," he said.

The estuary of all that, he added, is the improvement of the community's economy. Not only that, people can eat vegetables, fruit, and side dishes from their own work.
