TRIBUNBATAM.id, MAGELANG -   Recently, there has been a lot of news about the ticket price to Borobudur IDR 750,000 for domestic tourists, IDR 1.4 million for foreign tourists, and the limitation of the quota of visits per day to the top of the temple.

The Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy (Menparekraf) Sandiaga Uno said that Buddhist worship activities in the Borobudur Temple area would not be disturbed, although in the future this policy would be enforced.

This is indeed one of the things that people worry about, especially Buddhists.

"Of course we don't want to discriminate against religious people, especially Buddhists who want to access temples for worship purposes," Sandiaga said in a virtual Weekly Press Briefing, Monday (6/6).

Furthermore, he said, he understands that Borobudur is one of the goals for Buddhists to worship, especially during the Vesak celebration.

As for the people who come to worship not only from local residents, but also from other countries.

The new rules do not interfere with Buddhist worship

Sandiaga explained that so far the monks who performed Vesak worship at Borobudur actually didn't go up to the upper area of the temple.

Therefore, he considered that Buddhists could still worship and use the temple area, without the difficulty of increasing tariffs and quotas.

However, Sandiaga said that the rate increase for Borobudur Temple wasn't final yet.

His party will accept all inputs from various parties, including Buddhists, regarding the certainty of the price of admission tickets for tourists.

He also appealed to the public so that discussions about Borobudur Temple in Magelang, Central Java, didn't cause divisions.
