Jakarta - Bali road trip routes and fares

This land route uses the train, then continued by ship.

You can stop at several tourist spots along the way.

Here are three choices of routes that pass through several regions, namely Yogyakarta, as well as Surabaya, Malang, and Banyuwangi in East Java. 

1. Jakarta - Surabaya - Banyuwangi - Bali

  • Jakarta to Surabaya

Tourists can buy tickets for the Jayakarta Train with the route from Pasar Senen Station - Surabaya Gubeng Station.

  • Banyuwangi Station to Ketapang Harbor

The distance from Banyuwangi Ketapang Station to Ketapang Harbor is about 500 meters. You can walk about 10 minutes.

  • Ketapang Harbor (Banyuwangi) to Gilimanuk Harbor (Bali)

Tourists can buy tickets for the ferry crossing from Ketapang Harbor to Gilimanuk Harbor. 

As of January 2022, according to the ferryzy website, the ticket price per pedestrian is around IDR 8,500. The travel time is approximately 45 minutes. 

2. Jakarta - Yogyakarta - Malang - Banyuwangi - Bali

  • Jakarta to Yogyakarta

Buy Bengawan Train ticket with the Pasar Senen - Purwosari route for Economy Class starting from IDR 74,000. Then get off at Lempuyangan Yogyakarta Station. 

  • Yogyakarta to Malang

Tourists can continue to take the Kahuripan Train on the Lempuyangan - Blitar route for Economy Class with ticket price starting from IDR 80,000. You can get off at Blitar Station. 

Next, take the Penataran Train with the route Surabaya Kota - Blitar via Malang. The ticket price is about IDR 20,000. 

After arriving at Malang Station, you can stop to stay overnight.

  • Malang to Banyuwangi

The only choice for the Malang - Ketapang route (Banyuwangi Station) is the Tawang Alun Train, with Economy tickets starting from IDR 62,000.

  • Banyuwangi - Denpasar

From Banyuwangi Station, you can take DAMRI, bus, or travel vehicles to Denpasar. Prices start from IDR 90,000, including ferry tickets. 

Tourists can also walk from Banyuwangi Station to Ketapang Harbor.

From the port of Ketapang to the Port of Gilimanuk (Bali), the ticket price per pedestrian is around IDR 8,500.
