Sekupang Batam International Port Adds Trips Ahead of Christmas and New Year

TRIBUNBATAM.id, BATAM - Ahead of the 2022 Christmas and 2023 New Year holidays, international shipping operators are starting to prepare to anticipate a surge in passengers. 

Julmarly, the manager of Sekupang International Port in Batam, Riau Islands, said that as many as three ship operators, namely Batamfast, Sindoferry and Majestic, had added trips in one day.

"Currently there are 13 trips available and operating every day," said Julmarly when met at the Sekupang International Ferry Port, Tuesday (13/12).

He estimates that a surge in new passengers will be seen on Tuesday (20/12).

Based on information from agents, there was an increase in orders a week ahead of the new year. 

The preparations ahead of the Christmas holidays are in accordance with the existing schedule, and each operator has anticipated a surge in passengers.

He also hopes that by the end of this year the number of passengers can increase significantly. 

Julmarly continued, that before the pandemic, the number of passengers at this port reached thousands of people.

This amount may increase on weekends. 

Currently, he added, there is no reason for foreign tourists to cancel their trips to Batam.

According to him, Batam City is safe enough to visit, including to spend the Christmas and New Year holidays.
