TRIBUNBATAM.id - The Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy (Menparekraf) Sandiaga Uno said that Jakarta and Bali are targeted to become direct flight destinations from China, following the opening of the country's borders per Sunday (8/1/2023).

"There are two main objectives for requesting direct flights, namely Jakarta and Bali," said the Menparekraf in the Weekly Press Briefing of the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy online, Monday (2/1/2023).

He said, currently there have been a number of incoming requests from international airlines for direct flights from China to Indonesia.

"Several (airlines) that have asked directly are Air China, China Eastern Airlines, and China Southern Airlines," he said.

From the domestic national airline side, the government is still waiting for the readiness of Garuda Indonesia and Lion Air Group to be able to fill direct flight slots from China.

Along with the increasing demand for direct flights, Sandiaga hopes that routes can be opened from three main points in Panda Country, including Guangzhou, Shanghai and Beijing.

That way, he is optimistic that he can meet the target of foreign tourist arrivals from China which has been set for 2023, of 253,000 tourists.

"We are optimistic that the target of around 253,000 Chinese foreign tourists can be achieved this year," he said.
