TRIBUNBATAM.id - The Ministry of Environment and Forestry (KLHK) awarded the Company Performance Rating Assessment Program (PROPER) to PT Timah Tbk at the Vice Presidential Palace, Wednesday (01/08/2020).
Green PROPER is given to this state-owned company.
For the first time, PT Timah won the Green PROPER.
This rating is given to companies that have carried out environmental management more than what is required in regulations (beyond compliance) through the implementation of an environmental management system, efficient utilization of resources, and good efforts to empower the community.
The Minister of KLHK, Siti Nurbaya handed over the Green PROPER award to PT Timah Tbk, represented by the Director of Production Operations of PT Timah Tbk, Alwin Albar.
The award presentation was witnessed by Indonesian Vice President, KH Ma'ruf Amin.
Previous year, PT Timah only won Blue PROPER. To achieve Green PROPER, the second largest tin producer in the world is carrying out a number of innovations that are in line with the Green PROPER target, such as building and operating better waste treatment facilities.
PT Timah also formed project teams in all operational areas tasked with overseeing the Green PROPER program.

This team works not only within the company, but in collaboration with the Government and community groups.
The company continues to be encouraged to improve environmental management in line with the company's mission.
To increase contribution to the community and environmental preservation, PT Timah Tbk can continue to achieve Green Proper in the 2019 assessment year.
PT Timah provides employees in each production unit with adequate knowledge regarding requirements and regulations related to environmental management. The company held a number of Technical Guidance (Bimtek) with presenters from the Directorate General of Environmental Pollution and Environmental Damage Control.

Not satisfied with the achievements of Green PROPER, Abdullah said, in the future the company will gradually improve environmental management standards again.
The aim is to expand the scope of environmental management that is integrated with the company's strategic business processes in the future.
PT Timah continues to commit and carry out a number of innovations in environmental management from the mining process to post-mining, even for reclamation PT Timah has carried out the management of reclamation which is a new tourist destination and educational tourism such as in the Kampongeng Reklamasi Air Jangkang.
