The number of passengers at Batam's Telaga Punggur Domestic Port dropped dramatically during the recent outbreak of Covid-19.

TRIBUNBATAM.id, BATAM - During Covid-19 pandemic, the number of passengers at Telaga Punggur domestic port, Batam decreased dramatically.

Telaga Punggur domestic port is a port that connects Batam City with Tanjungpinang, Anambas and Tanjung uban, Bintan.

Komaruddin, Head of Telaga Punggur Domestic Port Syahbandar Post, said that since the outbreak of Covid-19 in Riau Islands, the number of ferry shipping to Tanjungpinang also began to decrease.

"The normal day of departure is every 15 minutes, if now Batam ships to Tanjunginang every 2 hours, for the last ship or the last ferry now at 17:30 WIB," he said

In addition to reducing operating hours, reductions also occur on the passenger side at both the departure and arrival terminals.

"Before Covid-19, the number of departures could reach 2,000 people every day, but now only 400 to 500 passengers each day with the number of ferries 5 round trip," he said

Head of Syahbandar Post, the domestic port of Telaga Punggur, said that every departing passenger was required to fill out a yellow card form and comply with the health protocol.
