Obey Physical Distancing Rules Due Covid-19, Passengers Total at Hang Nadim Airport is Limited

TRIBUNBATAM.id, BATAM - In order to comply with the health protocol in Circular Letter for Task Force for Covid-19 Handling No. 7 of 2020, Batam's Hang Nadim Airport plans to limit the capacity of people in the airport building.

According to Operations Manager of Hang Nadim Airport in Batam, Harlas B, the airport building area reaches 17 thousand m².

But of the total area, only about 9500 m² of building area used by the airport management.

To fill the building area of ​​around 9,500 m², Batam's Hang Nadim Airport can accommodate at least 684 people per hour during normal times.

However, the current Covid-19 pandemic situation that is still ongoing and is hitting airport and aviation activities, has made airport operational management plan to reduce the capacity of people 's shelters by half.

As a result, only around a maximum of 342 people per hour can be accommodated in Batam Hang Nadim Airport building.

This capacity reduction is also driven by the application of Physical Distancing in the aircraft which causes the passenger capacity to also be reduced.

"On the plane at this time, for example Lion Air has three seats, well, one of the seats is not allowed to be occupied. Therefore, the passenger capacity is only half," said Harlas.

In order to support the reduction in the capacity of people at the airport, the management of Hang Nadim Airport also plans to set flight time slots to be more relaxed.

If previously the flight schedule was very tight with a lapse of a dozen minutes, now the airport management plans to loosen the flight time slot to be per hour.
