TRIBUNBATAM.id, BATAM - Batam residents must be increasingly vigilant and comply with health protocols established by the government.

The reason is, the accumulative Covid-19 cases have penetrated more than a thousand cases to date.

From the latest presentation by Head of the Batam City Covid-19 Task Force, H Muhammad Rudi, until Wednesday (9/16/2020), the number of cases had exceeded 1,036 cases.

What is worrying about the development of this latest case is the finding of eight people in Mukakuning Dormitory.

These eight people are thought to be workers in companies in the industrial area around the dormitory.

This is because the dormitory is generally the place where workers live.

If this is not paid attention to by all workers, the dormitory and manufacturing industry in the area could become a new cluster of Covid-19 Batam City.

Head of Batam City Manpower Office, Rudi Syakyakirti, told Tribun Batam last night that there were positive dormitory residents.

The surveillance team and Disnaker have made various efforts to inhibit the circulation of visurs in the area.

According to Rudi, positive patient contacts have also been obtained and currently there are around 60 people who are undergoing self-quarantine in this dormitory.

They are placed in a separate room with other residents. In addition, the dormitory is also routinely sprayed with disinfectants twice a week.

To anticipate that the virus does not spread within the company environment, Disnaker continues to coordinate with the company.

"Workers who have contact with positive patients have been isolated independently. We also suggest that the company spray disinfectants regularly, "said Rudi.

In fact, said Rudi, all companies in Mukakuning had implemented health protocols quite strictly in accordance with the direction of the Covid-19 Task Force.

However, they also find it difficult to control their workers because they are infected outside the company, which is where they live in the dormitory.

"It's a little complicated because they are infected outside the work environment. You see, the dormitory has one room filled with 16 workers. There are thousands of workers living there. How they discipline themselves with health protocols, only they know, ”said Rudi.

Rudi said that currently there were two companies that were under close surveillance after the case.

He hopes that this case will not create new clusters because this could harm the company.

"If the number of people affected is increasing, the company can be closed," said Rudi, who appealed to workers not to take this case lightly. (TribunBatam.id)
