Lion Air - Lion Air's 2022 Latest Baggage Rules, Check Before Flying

TRIBUNBATAM.id - Airlines have their own baggage rules, and Lion Air Group is no exception.

This airline group consists of Lion Air (JT flight code), Batik Air (ID flight code), and Wings Air (IW flight code).

Airplane passengers are required to understand the baggage rules of each airline in order to be able to calculate the weight of the luggage, prepare a budget if there is excess baggage, and speed up the plane check-in process.

The following are the baggage rules for Lion Air, Batik Air and Wings Air aircraft in 2022.

Baggage is useful to meet the needs of passengers during the flight or final destination with the permission of the airline.

There are two types of in-flight baggage, namely cabin baggage and checked baggage.

Cabin baggage is an item or object belonging to a passenger that may be brought into the aircraft cabin and is under the passenger's own control.

Meanwhile, checked baggage is goods handed over by passengers to airlines to be transported by the same aircraft.

In addition to the two types of baggage, passengers must also understand the facilities for free baggage allowance and extra baggage.

In addition, Lion Air Group provides prepaid baggage services for passengers. Each of these types of baggage will be discussed in the discussion below.

Free baggage allowance rules

Free baggage allowance is a baggage quota with a certain amount given to airplane passengers, according to the airline ticket purchased.

As the name implies, the quota is not paid or free.

The free baggage concept used by Lion Air Group is the weight concept, which is to provide free baggage quota based on a certain baggage weight.

According to the Lion Air Group website, the Lion Air Group's free baggage quota as of January 27, 2022 is as follows:

- Lion Air (JT), economy class for domestic flights of 20 kilograms (kg).

- Batik Air (ID), economy class for domestic and international flights 20 kg.

- Batik Air for business class on domestic and international flights, get a free baggage quota of 30 kg.

- Wings Air doesn't provide free baggage quota.

Lion Air Group extra baggage rules

If the passenger's baggage exceeds the free baggage allowance, it will be counted as extra baggage.

Extra baggage will be charged according to the actual weight at the time of check-in at the airport. Fares vary, depending on the airline and passenger flight routes.

The extra baggage rate is in the EBT or Excess Baggage Ticket column according to the passenger's flight route.

Lion Air Group prepaid baggage rules

Prepaid baggage is a special service offered by Lion Air Group. So, prepaid baggage is the purchase of extra baggage allowance made before departure time.

For example, passengers have predicted that their luggage will exceed the free baggage rules, so they can buy prepaid baggage before the flight.

The difference with excess baggage is that the prepaid baggage quota has been ordered and paid in advance before the check-in process at the airport.

The advantage for passengers who order prepaid baggage is that they get a more affordable price compared to paying for excess baggage at check-in at the airport.

The maximum limit for purchasing prepaid baggage is 30 kilograms.

However, passengers still pay for excess baggage if carrying baggage exceeds the free baggage allowance and prepaid baggage allowance. The remaining quota from unused prepaid baggage cannot be returned.

Cabin baggage rules

Lastly, is cabin baggage. As previously mentioned, cabin baggage is an item or object belonging to a passenger that may be brought into the aircraft cabin and is under control of the passenger himself.

Citing the official Lion Air Group website, the maximum weight of cabin baggage is seven kilograms on all flights.

For the Boeing/Airbus aircraft type (Lion Air and Batik Air) it has dimensions of 40 centimeters (cm) x 30 cm x 20 cm. Meanwhile, the ATR (Wings Air) aircraft type has dimensions of 35 cm x 30 cm x 20 cm.

The connecting route using ATR (Wings Air) aircraft follows the dimensions of the cabin baggage 35 cm x 30 cm x 20 cm.

In addition, passengers are allowed to bring personal items such as laptop bags, women's tote bags, reading books, cameras, and baby equipment.

Passengers are advised to check these provisions in order to speed up the check-in process at the airport.
