The air quality in Batam is currently in the number 164 from the previously numbered 167. Which means that the quality of air in Batam is being categorized as "very unhealthy", but the rank of the pollution can change at any time.
Head of Batam public health Department, Didi Kusmarjadi confirmed about the air quality in Batam that getting worse in two days. Didi also appealed to the Batam citizens who's doing the activity outside must wearing the masks, especially for the pregnant moms.
Not only about wearing a mask, Didi also suggested that people who have no urgent needs, if possible, don't leave the house.
Not only about that, Didi added, that residents increase the consumption of at least 2 liters of water. Also, consume fruits and vegetables and if necessary, check your health immediately if there are any complaints to the nearest health center, such as a public health center (Puskesmas)or clinic.
Didi explained that AQI is an index that describes the severity of air quality in an area.AQI is calculated based on six main types of pollutants, such as PM 2.5, PM 10, carbon monoxide, sulfuric acid, nitrogen dioxide and ground ozone.
The value range of the AQI is 0 to 500, the higher the value the higher the air pollution rate in the region.
The score of 0-5 means the air quality is good, 51-100 means moderate, 101-150 unhealthy for the sensitive people, 151-200 unhealthy, 201-203 very unhealthy and 301-500 upwards means very dangerous.
"For a while, Batam that based on AQI data reaches in 164, of course this number were indicates that the air in Batam is in an unhealthy position," he said. (*)
