The airline canceled flights departing from Surabaya, East Java, to Palangkaraya and vice versa; from Surabaya to Banjarmasin, South Kalimantan, and vice versa; and from Jakarta to Samarinda and vice versa. In addition, the airline also rerouted and delayed several other flights by around 60 to 180 minutes from their original schedules.

Affected Citilink customers may choose to reschedule, reroute or refund their tickets in accordance with the airline’s policy.

Meanwhile, low-cost carrier Lion Air, along with its subsidiaries Wings Air and Batik Air, canceled a total of 81 flights bound for Kalimantan due to the limited visibility in the sky over the region. In addition, the three airlines also delayed, diverted and recalled several other flights.

Lion Air Group spokesperson Danang Mandala Prihantoro said the airlines would resume their normal operations as soon as the visibility had improved and was deemed safe for flight.

Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) chairwoman Dwikorita Karnawati said satellite records showed that transboundary haze from the country had entered parts of Malaysia on Wednesday for an hour, before reappearing on Friday morning and also affecting Singapore. (*)
