Monitor Foreigners In Batam, Immigration Officers Conduct The Joint Operations
Batam Immigration Department just conducted a joint operation to oversee the activities of expatriates who cross the waters of Batam, Kepri.
TRIBUNBATAM.id - Batam Immigration Department has just conducted a joint operation to oversee the activities of expatriates who cross the waters of Batam, Kepri Archipelago. The office carried out the latest edition of the operations, which involved 300 personnel on six ships, on September 5, 2019.
During the Operations activity, also present-the all of the Immigration Office members, Navy members, the Task Force of Indonesian Maritime Security or called (Satuan Tugas Keamanan Maritim Indonesia), the National Police, The Customs, The Excise Department and the National Prosecutors Department.
The event was inaugurated by Immigration Director General Ronny F. Sompie.
Batam’s waters are one of the routes that foreigners take to travel in and out of Indonesia.
“The joint operation seeks to prevent transnational crime in our border areas such as in Batam, near the waters of Belakang Padang and others,” Ronny said.
Immigration supervision covers law enforcement – in terms of its administrative matters as well as punitive sanctions – in order to regulate the entry and exit of foreigners in and out of Indonesia.
The joint operation is in line with Law No. 6/2011 on Immigration as well as Presidential Regulation No. 125/2016 on how to manage refugees from abroad that cross through Indonesia via Batam’s waters.
The Immigration Office regularly conducts the joint operation to supervise the flow of foreigners through Indonesian territory.
