Anak Pulau Party in Batam, Jong Boat and Volleyball Competition With 390 Participants

Anak Pulau Party, Jong Boat Race at Tanjung Gundap Batam 

TRIBUNBATAM.id - Jong Boat race and volleyball competition which was wrapped in series activities of Anak Pulau Party, in Tanjung Gundap, Batam City received full enthusiasm from the community.

Tanjung Gundap is a village assisted by State Gas Company CSR (PGN) in collaboration with CECT Community Empowerment Study Center at Trisakti University since 2017.

"PGN has conducted community development activities to residents of Tanjung Gundap and surrounding areas by providing entrepreneurial training as well as supervision to training participants," said Wendi Purnomo, Sales Area Head of PGN Batam, Friday (4/10).

He said the purpose of community development was the mothers could play a role in helping economy of their family, majority of whom work as traditional fishermen.

"They sometimes go to sea there are bad weather conditions. With the creativity of these women, processing seafood into crackers and crop products by their surroundings in the form of snacks, is expected to be marketed around Batam City, "he said.

Wendi also hopes the community can further develop training knowledge that has been provided so the resulting product creations can be more varied and competitive.

Anak Pulau Party Activity also received full support and appreciation from local government.

"Obviously we are very happy and very proud, and we don't forget to thank PGN, Trisaksi and KPKM (Independent Creative Women's Group) for helping to make this event be held," said Sagulung District Head, Reza Khadafi, Friday (4/10).

Not only limited to ceremonial, Reza said that the event was a place to introduce their identity of community at Tanjung Gundap in particular as well as general Malay community who had a culture of Jong Boat.

"This must be preserved, especially by people who live on the coast," he said.

Meanwhile, Leador of Anak Pulau Party Committee, Abdul said that the peak of event will be held until Sunday (6/10).

"This is the first year we are holding race, usually we are only holding a game on Eid," he said.

He mentioned the total number of participants who competed were 390 participants and came from islands around Bulang District, Lance Island, Panjang Island, Akar Island.

"The participants were divided into each race in Little Jong, and Jong Anak categories. We also finalize volleyball on Sunday, "he said. (Tribunbatam.id/Nabella Hastin Pinakesti)
